[[The Real Nightmare]]

I think my real nightmare in army is just about to begin.

Never could have imagined that I would be posted to ATEC (Army Training Evaluation Centre). It's bad enough that I would most probably get a chiong sua vocation down there. What's worse is I'm the only freaking one in my whole company to be posted there!

That's right. No one familiar to speak to when I report tomorrow. On the brighter side (or maybe not so bright), I'm still stuck at Pasir Laba. Which means home is pretty near. And if what my sergeant told me is true, then I'll probably be on frequent trips to Taiwan and Thailand.

I'm not really sure if those frequent overseas trips are a great thing to have, but well, what to do? Life simply sucks sometimes.

Finally been promoted but the only thing I'm looking forward to is the higher pay. Seriously, I don't really like the responsibility of being a commander in the SAF, especially such a junior one.

Friday night we did a somewhat gruelling 28-kilometre route march. Actually, it's more like a road march because unlike in Pulau Tekong, we were walking much more on tar roads compared to more unforgiving terrain filled with rocks and mud. The best part of this route is we get to bypass NTU. It helps when you walk on street-lit roads and get to see something more scenic along the way.

And of course, there were quite a few NTU students who saw us trudging by at the dead of the night. I don't know why, on a Friday night, they are still there but there they were. They certainly were curious seeing almost 800 people dressed in army camo and full battle order and holding a M-16 rifle each walking past their school. Nice of them to wave at us and taking some pictures of us marching by.

The march ended at about 0530 hours on Saturday. In total we took almost 8 hours to finish the whole march. And the parade started at like 0700 hours? By which everyone's legs were already wobbling like mad. Not to mention some suffering blisters, abrasions, rashes etc.

More exciting than getting the rank was receiving our posting order. Some were incredibly overjoyed at their posting, some already mentally prepared on where they would most likely be posted to, and others like me who were almost rubbing our eyes in disbelief.

At the end of the day there must have been a certain degree of sadness in everyone. Because it's finally time that most of us would be going our separate ways. This group of us had spent more than 5 months together, and these times certainly have been memorable. And now that we were broken up, for sure it's gonna be quite some time before we would ever meet up.

Perhaps being a trainee is still the best. But life goes on. So, good luck to everyone. Hopefully our paths will cross each other again some time.

One more week of BSLC before I pass out officially as a corporal.

One and a half years more before I'll get to see my pink IC.

And perhaps a lifetime before....

I don't know why, how or whatever. But I'm still missing you...
